Germany to invest ₹ 910 crore in Uttarakhand

Germany proposed to get rid of the decomposed sewer and industrial pollution in Uttarakhand. The key partner in the integrated Ganga conservation campaign ‘Namami Gange’, Germany will invest about 125 million euros in Uttarakhand, i.e. around 910 crore rupees. Cleanliness management system in 24 cities of the state, including Haridwar and Rishikesh, will benefit from German expertise in solid waste management.

In this regard, the German ambassador Dr. Martin Ni arrived in Dehradun on Friday, he separately met Governor Dr. Krishan Kant Pal, Chief Minister Trivandrum Singh Rawat and Chief Secretary S. Ramaswamy.

Germany’s Ambassador Dr. Martin Ni discussed in detail all the work done under Namami Gange in Uttarakhand and its plan in detail. During the meeting with the Governor at Raj Bhavan, the German Ambassador said that the German government is ready to give special cooperation to the development of Uttarakhand especially in the technical cooperation. The benefits of Germany’s experience in the cleanliness and revitalization of Ganga river will be benefited. The river management strategies have successfully been adopted in Rhine and Danube rivers in Germany.

In the secretariat, in the interaction with Chief Minister Trivendra Rawat, he said that sewerage treatment plant and management will be done in Haridwar and Rishikesh. Sewerage management can also be done in some parts of Dehradun. The German ambassador appreciated the state’s growth rate and per capita income more than the national average. He told that in the meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister had suggested him to go to Uttarakhand and consider investing in the state.

The Chief Minister told him that the state government was committed to deliver good governance and service delivery to the common man. Subsequently Dr. Martin Nei met the Chief Secretary S. Ramaswamy at the Secretariat itself. He expressed his commitment to the campaign to clean the Ganges.
