The injured body of a 23-year-old man from UP was found in a forest on Dhudli Road in Nehru Colony police station area on Monday. Police suspect that he died after his head was smashed with stones.
Police have identified the deceased as Aijaz Ahmed, who hailed from Shamli district of UP, and was staying at Kargi Chowk in Banjarawala in Dehradun. Ahmed did odd jobs for a living.
Rajesh Shah, in charge of Nehru Colony police station, said, “We received information from local residents about a body lying in a jungle in Khatta Pani on Dhudli road. Prima facie, it appears that he was murdered on Sunday and his head was brutally smashed with big stones.”
Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Dehradun Nivedita Kukreti reached the spot to investigate the murder. A team from Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) collected samples while a dog squad was called to gather more evidence.
