A day ahead of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Uttarakhand visit, Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat visited Kedarnath to review the on ground preperation. Before this a minute to minute rehearsal and debriefing
involving Special Protection Group (SPG) officers, the administrative officers and the
policemen were held at Dehradun Airport, Kedarnath Dham and Patanjali Yog Peeth in Haridwar on Tuesday.
An administrative officer after the debriefing was over said that as per the proposed programme, PM Modi
would land at Dehradun airport at 7.25 am on Wednesday and would fly to Kedarnath from there. “He is expected
to land at the shrine at 8.50 am. From Kedarnath, he is scheduled to reach Haridwar where he would inaugurate a
research institute at Patanjali Yogpeeth. He is scheduled to fly back to Delhi at 12.50 pm,” he informed.
A 36- member team of Special Protection Group (SPG) had reached Uttarakhand on Sunday. They had met some senior officials and reviewed the security arrangements at Kedarnath, Dehradun airport and the research institute at
Patanjali Yogpeeth in Haridwar where the PM would go at the last leg of his tour of the state. As per the
recommendations of senior SGP officers, local police are now engaged in making security arrangements for the VVIP visit.
Administrative officers and police officers deputed on the duty took part in the rehearsal, it is learnt. Garhwal Range
DIG Pushpak Jyoti, SSP Sweety Aggarwal and police officers were present during the rehearsal held at Dehradun airport.
In the same way, Haridwar and Rudrapryag police have also conducted rehearsal along with SPG officers on Tuesday, it is learnt. However, traffic jams ensued along the routes the fleets of VVIPs passed during rehearsal in Haridwar. Later, the senior government officers reviewed security preparedness of PM’s visit and gave necessary instructions to the officers as a part of strengthening the security.
