Prime Minister Narendra Modi sought status of Deoband-Roorkee rail track laying project and also into CCTNS (crime and criminal tracking network system) from the state chief secretary S Ramswami while reviewing PRAGTI (Pro Active Governance and Timely Implementation), through video conferencing. Chief secretary has assured that the half of the cost-estimated to be around Rs 153 crore aside from Rs 400 crore to be spent on land acquisition- involving the Deoband-Roorkee rail track laying project would be borne by the state government.
CS has been told that as Deoband-Roorkee rail link project is logistically important for the state. Once it is completed then distance between Roorkee and Muzaffarnagar would be substantially reduced y 42 km from current distance. The 27.45 kilometer long rail line would have 30 small and four large bridges as well.
Sharing details about the CCTNS, CS said that Uttarakhand has been connected with the national data centre. In the state, the public based portal is available for the people. Police stations have been lodging 100 percent FIRs through CCTNS, he informed the PM while adding that the Union home ministry and the National Crime Record Bureau have been jointly monitoring it.
