The Uttarakhand government has issued directives for Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers’s leave. Following on the instructions of Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, an official order has been released mandating IAS officers to seek prior approval before going on leave.
As per the issued order issued by the Chief Secretary’s Office, all IAS officers must compulsorily inform the CS before proceeding on various types of leave, including Earned Leave (EL), Child Care Leave (CCL), travel leave, half-pay leave, maternity leave, paternity leave, or if they plan to leave the headquarters. The officers are required to obtain permission before availing these leaves.
Its objective is to ensure smooth coordination and uninterrupted administrative functioning. The move is seen as an effort to streamline governance and maintain efficiency in the state’s bureaucratic operations. By implementing this system, the government intends to prevent any administrative gaps that may arise due to unplanned or prolonged absences of senior officials.
The directive underscores the state government’s focus on accountability and discipline in the administration. All IAS officers have been urged to adhere to the new protocol to ensure smooth functioning of governance in Uttarakhand.
