UK cabinet gives nod to Doon-Mussorie ropeway

In the next three years, the tourists will be able to travel from Doon to Mussoorie in just 13 minutes. That too in the air  with the Doon-Mussoorie Rope-Way project, which was prepared by the Department of Tourism, has been approved by the Uttarakhand Cabinet. Five-and-a-half-km long Ropeway Project is said to be included in the world’s five largest ropeway projects. Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat had laid its foundation in March.

Tourists often have to struggle with jam while traveling from Doon to Mussoorie 35 km away. Not only that, due to the jam during the season and snowfall, many tourists are forced to return from half way. Although there is no proper parking in Mussoorie, tourists have to face difficulties. Seeing these problems, the Tourism Department had prepared the Doon-Mussoorie Rope-Way plan.

In the 5.5 km rope-way project from Purkul village of Doon to Mussoorie Library chowk not only will reduce traffic pressure on the Doon-Mussoorie Highway, but also boost tourism in Mussoorie. In addition to the ropeway in the scheme, there is a proposal to make parking, food court and facility centers for tourists. It has been given to France’s Expert Company. Chief Minister has instructed to complete this work in three years.
