Sensation spread in the area after dead body of a young man on Pauri motorway, connected to the Badrinath highway in Devprayag. The head of the youth had been crushed with a heavy stone. The police has filed a case against the unknown in this case.
On Thursday morning, the police got the information that a young man’s body was found near Devprayag’s PWD road crossing. On this, Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mahipal Singh Rawat reached the spot with the police team. On the basis of documents found in the truck, the police identified the deceased as Rohit Wellington alias Honey, son of 30-year-old son Sunil Wellington, as a resident of 172/2 small Bharuwala police station, Clementown Dehradun. According to the police, the sight of stone injuries on the head of the deceased seems to point to a murder.
The deceased’s maternal uncle Surendra and his son Anil Badwal told that Rohit had gone from Rishikesh two days ago to Vijayanagar Agastamuni, from where he was returning on Tuesday evening. Rohit had bought his new truck this January. He used to drive the truck alone. Sometimes his friends also went along. Police also investigated the CCTV of the hotel located near the spot, in which Rohit was seen parking his truck at around 11 pm. Together with him some people are also seen. The police has sent the dead body for post mortem to Rishikesh. Police Inspector Mahipal Rawat said that a case of murder against unknown is being registered and investigation is being done.
