Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat inaugurated the MIS portal “Sachet” which has been developed for online reporting, data collection and start of rescue works during natural disasters and road accidents occurring in the state at Secretariat on Wednesday. During the review of the work of the Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority, Chief Minister instructed SDRF to coordinate with the Nehru Mountaineering Institute during natural calamities and road accidents in the state and also take help from their trainees. Chief Minister also instructed to immediately get a mock drill done. He said that the school and college children should be imparted training of disaster management.
During the meeting, Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority informed that for the various weather related information, Doppler Radars will be installed in Mukteshwar and Surkanda Devi by June next. The India Meteorological Department has installed 139 of the 176 meteorological equipments in the state. To strengthen the pre-earthquake warning system, 155 sensors out of 184 have been installed in the state by IIT Roorkee. 49 sirens for the earthquake warning have been installed in the state. Along with this, 100 places of Haridwar, Dehradun and Kathgodam and at SEOC and DEOC, sensors for pre-earthquake warning are being installed. With the help of THDCIL, sirens along with voice messages are being installed at 8 places on the banks of Ganga between Koteshwar and Rishikesh. Under Vision 2020, till now 5,381 Mahila Mangal Dal, 4995 Yuva Mangal Dal and 87 NGOs have been trained by SDRF for conducting relief and rescue operations during natural calamities. So far 74 satellite phones have been provided in all the districts and additional 79 satellite phones will be made available soon. In all the districts, in case of disaster, Drone arrangement for surveillance and monitoring have been made. GIS cell is being built at district level for effective management of disaster.
During the meeting, it was informed that work on repair of cracks in the slopes of Purnagiri Temple is being done by Wapcos at a cost of Rs. 9.97 crores. Simultaneously, the work of setting up wireless internet communication facility in Vyas, Darma and Chaudans valley of Pithoragarh by SDRF will be started soon. Likewise, there is plan to start wireless internet communication facility in Doon Tracking Route, Pindari Glacier Tracking Route, Gangotri/Bhojbasa Tracking Route.
Chief Minister honoured by Darshan Singh, posted in Chamoli district, for his commendable work done as a member of the Disaster Management Search Rescue Team under Disaster Management Department. On August 13, 2018, in difficult conditions, on duty Darshan Singh had saved a girl, who was drowning on the banks of the Alaknanda river, Koteswar temple Rudraprayag. Bhuvan Chandra Kandpal, posted on Outsource from youth Welfare and Prantiya Rakshak Dal in Almora district, was honoured for commendable work in search and rescue work during disaster or vehicle accident from time to time. District Disaster Management Officer Ms. Deepshikha Rawat was also honoured for her outstanding services.
