Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said that their government wants a creative partnership from youth and students in policy-making. We have to believe in our youth and their ability. Our youth is the future and strength of the country. Generation gap with new generation can be bridged by having a better coordination and communication.

Referring to the thoughts of Mahatma Gandhi, Chief Minister said that lack of physical resources, world class classrooms, labs and libraries in universities and educational institutes could be overcome by good teacher but no one can overcome the inadequacy of good teachers. He emphasized the need for the youth of the state to adopt a system of continuity and continuous improvement in their efforts. He said that it is very necessary to adopt change with the passing time. He called upon the students to take education with the spirit of contributing towards social responsibility and nation building. As a chief guest, CM addressed the students at DIT University’s second convocation ceremony in Dehradun on Saturday.

State Government is eager for active participation by youth in policy formulation. Recently in the historic Investor’s Summit, 150 students of the state were given the opportunity to participate in the programme so that the youth could get an opportunity to express their views on important forums and feelings and thoughts of the youth could be understood. During the drafting of the budget of the state government, discussions were held with students and their suggestions were sought. Along with this, suggestions were also sought from all the sections of society, including women, farmers and soldiers. Bajrang Bali Hanuman is an ideal character in the form of Management Guru. Hanuman Ji did not failed in any work. He did every work for charity and welfare not for personal interest. Chief Minister said that the students, who are taking education, should also utilize their education in the development of society and nation.

Chief Minister expressed his happiness that the students of different universities of the state willingly accepted his suggestion and challenge of preparing Swadeshi dresses for the convocation ceremony and today the students of all the universities, including the IIT Roorkee, Swadeshi dresses are being worn at the convocation ceremony. It has also been adopted by other reputed institutions of the country. Chief Minister suggested the students of science, technical and engineering to work in the direction of research on pine needles and its use in the production work. The Chief Minister said that the students of science and technology should consider how technology can be used to solve problems like reviving Rispana and ending water shortage.

While referring to the 400 years old historic tunnel in village Maletha by Veer Bhad Madho Singh Bhandari, Chief Minister said that our technical experts and engineers should study this, as it is an unique engineering marvel. It is a matter of study that this tunnel is helping in irrigation even after 400 years. He said that students of science, technical and engineering are not only the builders of the buildings but also the nation builders. State Government is constantly working to improve quality of higher education. The Department of Higher Education has decided to give 40 students of government universities an opportunity to interact and go on study tours to foreign universities. Hundred per cent faculty is being ensured in government colleges. Under the Umbrella Act, the quality of higher education will improve further soon.

On this occasion, Higher Education Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, Chairman DIT University Anuj Aggrawal, Chancellor N. Ravi Shanker, Vice Chancellor Dr. Kuldeep K Raina, students and parents were present.
