Political parties rally put people on strain

As candidates were showing their strength but other side people were facing long traffic jam as if they were blaming that why they took this route without verifying traffic plan. Two political parties i.e. BJP and AAP filed their  nomination for mayor post of Dehradun on Monday. For this they took out huge rally and threw traffic out of gear on the major roads of Dehradun. BJP candidate Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’ procession started from the BJP city office near Parade Ground was a massive show of strength. The presence of the saffron party supporters in a huge number in the procession resulted in a severe traffic congestion in the nearby areas including the Clock Tower. Things worsen when the schools ended for the day. The traffic police were found struggling with the chaos on the roads as the snarl soon spread to other parts of the city. It took hours to resume the traffic normal.

Annoyed commuter said that It took me more than an hour to cover a distance of just three kilometres from Dalanwala to Nehru Colony. Usually it takes mere 10 minutes to cover the distance. The election commission and the State Government should ensure that processions should not be allowed to pass along the major roads of the city and especially during the peak traffic hours.

Although political parties said that it happened because election is happening at short notice and parties declared their candidate late too.

They said that the similar situation would happen on Tuesday too which happens to be the last day of filling nomination.
