The Uttarakhand Governor Dr KK Paul said that winning in a competition was not as important as was participating whole-heartedly and showing one’s talent. In life, we are faced with challenges and failures many a time but we should not lose hope .” We should maintain a positive energy and keep trying to achieve your goals”, he said while talking to children at a function organized at Raj Bhawan on the occasion of Children’s Day.
Many competitions were organized on the occasion by the Women Empowerment and Child development department( Fancy dress contest etc) . Uttarakhand State Child Welfare Council organized a painting competition .
During the programme, a book on an acid attack survivor Kavita Bisht (written by Jai Joshi) was released.
The governor said that we can learn from Kavita Bisht’s life how to face difficult situations and still move ahead in life.He congratulated Joshi for having written the book. We must ensure cleanliness around us and only then would we have healthy minds in healthy bodies. He said children who could not see, hear or speak had made paintings that showed their wonderful imagination and creativity.
He greeted the children on the occasion and said that Mehru ji loved children greatly and thus his birthday was celebrated as children’s day.
Dr Paul expressed happiness at the presence of a large number of children at raj Bhawan on Children’s Day. It was specially heartening to see differently abled children participating in the painting competition. The governor met the children and encouraged them in their endeavours.
