Fundamental values of Indian culture need to be conserved: Gov

The Uttarakhand Governor Dr KK Paul said that the fundamental values of Indian culture need to be conserved along with material progress. He was speaking as the chief guest at the 80th anniversary of the Prajapita Brahmkumari Ishwariya Vishwavidyalaya at Subhash Nagar, Dehrdaun.

Our rishis and mahatmas had played an important role in conserving these cultural values. Adi Shankaracharya gave cultural unity to the country. That material progress brought in its wake certain bad practices an distorted the minds of human beings. To avoid these, cultural values must be nurtured. Reading good books was also a way of doing this.

He said that positive energy was very important for society as it gave us a direction towards peace and happiness. The Brahmkumari Ishwariya Vishwavidyalaya was contributing greatly towards spreading the message of compassion and brotherhood.

Today every person was in search of inner peace for which Dhyan is very important. We must know how to control our thoughts and mind through Yam, Niyam, Aasan,Pranayam, Pratyahar, Dharna, Dhyan and Samadhi and achieve the ultimate mental state.

Other dignitaries including Rajyogi Brahmkumar Amirchand ji, Rajyogini Brahmkumari Asha ji, Manju ji and  persons from the Dehradun branch of the Vishwavidyalaya were present there.
