Sports is necessary for overall growth of a child: Dr Paul

Uttarakhand Governor Dr KK Paul has categorically said that sports is an essential along with studies for the overall growth of a child. He also congratulated the parents and teachers of the students for encouraging them to play golf. he expressed these views after distributing prizes among the winner of the fifth Governor’s cup inter school golf tournament at Rajbhawan Nainital on Monday. The overall winner was the Bharatiya Shaheed Sainik School, Nainital and the runner up was Sainik School, Ghodakhal.

 

Addressing the function, the governor said that very fine teams were participating in this tournament. It was good to note that the number of participants had increased since last year. The Raj Bhawan Golf Club had been imparting free of cost training in golf to students of the region for the past few years . 34 out of the  104 students trained this year played in the tournament yesterday .Two children out of the 34 were ten years old,the youngest.

 

In the girls’ category in the tournament, Bhumika Mishra of St mary’s Convent, Nainital bagged the first position while Suchita Joshi of the same school was the runner up. In the boys’ putting category, Hrithik Mishra of LPS was the winner and Anshul of Sainik School, Ghodakhal, was the runner up.

Under  12 years girls category ,the winner was Khalisha of St Mary’s and the runner up was Garvita of St Mary’s.

  

In the 12 to 15 years category,  Shahila Abdullah of MS Ballika Vidya mandir was the winner and the runner up was Suchita Joshi of St Mary’s. In the 15 to 17 years category, Kirtika of MS Ballika Vidya mandir and the runner up was Bhumika Mishra of St Mary’s.

 

Under 12 years boy category, the winner was Bharatiya Shaheed Sainik school’s Saurabh and the runner up was sanjit Yadav of Oakwood school.

In the 12 to 15 years category, Saumya Tamta of  LPS was the winner and the runner up was Avinash Kumar of Sainik School, Ghodakhal. In the 15 to 17 years category Hritik Mishra of LPS was the winner and the runner up was Abhishek Arya of GIC. Students of ten schools of the area participated in the event.

 

Other dignitaries including Director of Uttarakhand Administrative Academy AS Nayal, ADC Dr YS Rawat, Major Anuj Rathour, principal of Sainik School (Ghodakhal) Rohit Dwivedi ,principal of Bharatiya Shaheed Sainik school PS Bisht, Principal of LPS Bhuvan Tripathi ,Sister Seema of St mary’s , Asha Arya of Oakwood School were present there. Later Dr Paul also held the AGM of the Ranbhawan golf club too.DA
