Another sex racket has been busted in the police which had been tarnishing the image of the holy city of Haridwar.
Three girls, who were forced into prostitution, were rescued. Two people, who were running the sex racket from a posh colony in Kankhal area was also arrested. They used social media platforms to attract clients and girls were sent to hotels.
The accused have been identified as Prince alias Akhsya, a resident of GT road Dorabji, Amritsar, and Vivek Kumar is resident of Dwarika Vihar Kankhal, Haridwar.
All three rescued girls are from Punjab. One was a bar dancer at a bar in Delhi’s Chandni Chowk, another was a second year B.com student and the third was lured into the business with a job offer.
“A raid was conducted by Kankhal police and anti-human trafficking cell on Thursday morning. Prince was the key operator of sex racket. He bought the girls for at 50,000 for 10 days. Vivek had earlier worked as a travel agent in Haridwar and had good contact among hoteliers. They used WhatsApp and other social media platforms to attract their clients,” said Mamta Vohra, SP (city).
Total eight sex rackets have been busted in the last two months in Haridwar. Girls from Delhi, Bihar, Punjab, Nepal and Uttar Pradesh have been rescued by the Haridwar police. M S Nawaz
