The three day long festival to mark the 523rd birth anniversary of Jagadguru Bhagwan Chandra Dev came to an end at Rajghat Panchayati Akhara Bada Udasin Nirvan in Kankhal. The festivities included religious rituals, discourses, yajna and Prasad distribution.
The offerings were made to Lord Ganesha and Lord Sri Chandra at Chandracharya chownk Ranipur mod in the morning. The seers and devotees were present in large numbers to make the offering including Mahant Mohan Dass, Mahant Sukhdev Muni, Mahant Shyam Sundar Dass, Swami Harichetananad Giri, Mahant Kapil Muni, Mahant Balwant Singh, Mahant Raghuveer Dass, former legislator Ambrish Kumar, Pradeep Chaudhary and others.
Highlighting the life of Chandra Bhagwan, Mahant Mohan Dass said, “Chandra Dev was a torch bearer of Nirvani akhara and guided the society with his teachings. He was the incarnation of God and his teachings are relevant even today.”
He removed the social evils of the society which were prevalent at that time. He exercised to maintain equality amongst weaker sections of society, said Harichetanand Giri. The secretary of Nirmal Akhara Mahant Balwant Singh said, “Chandra Dev was Yug purush and will remain role model for the generations to come. He fought for the right of social justice in society.”
