2 kg morphine mixture found in Air India food trolley at Delhi airport

suspicious packet containing drugs was found on an Air India food trolley at Delhi Airport on Thursday. Airport authorities were left baffled as it was clearly a breach of security and is suspected to be an insiders job who had easy access to the food trays.

According to a India Today report, the Customs officials while acting on a a tip-off checked the trolleys to find a brown packet with narcotic substances. An official with the airlines said that a supervisor with Sky Gourmet, the catering service, noticed the mysterious packet in the lower shelf beneath the cutlery while moving the trolley from Air India flight 440 that arrived from Chennai and reported it to the authorities concerned.

Interestingly, the trolley which was loaded at Chennai, can be easily accessed only by airlines staff including cabin crew, according to officials. The Narcotics Control Bureau confirmed that the substance is morphine and weighs 1,895 grams.
