First swine flu death in Himachal’s Kangra district

The first swine flu death in Kangra was reported from Dr Rajendra Prasad Govt Medical College, Tanda. Two persons, tested positive for the H1N1 disease, were also under treatment in the medical college.

Medical Superintendent, Tanda hospital, Dr YD Sharma, confirmed today that a 65-year-old patient Joginder Kumar of Digger village in Dehra was admitted to the Tanda hospital a few days back with swine flu. Dr Sharma said he died on Thursday night in the isolation ward of the hospital. This was the first death this year due to swine flu in this district.

He said another woman from Drang, Palampur, was under treatment in the hospital who was admitted a few days back and tested H1N1 positive.

He said, a third patient, 42-year-old woman from Daulatpur, near Tanda, was admitted as a suspected swine flu case whose sample was sent to the Microbiology Department where she was also tested H1N1 positive.
