CMO was locked inside his room by ASHA

General public visiting the office of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Dehradun faced problems as the entrance of the office was locked by agitating Asha workers on Thursday. Shouting slogans against the state government and CMO of Dehradun, the Asha workers assembled outside the office in the morning and placed a lock on its entry.  The state President of Uttarakhand Asha workers, Shiva Dubey led the agitators.

Addressing the Asha workers she blamed the officials of the CMO office for harassing the Asha workers and engaging in corruption. Dubey said that one time encouragement reward of Rs 5000 for every Asha worker announced by the Congress government is being paid in installments to the Asha workers of urban areas while in rural areas entire amount of Rs 5000 is paid to the Asha workers. The agitated Asha workers also demanded abolishing the system of online payment of their remuneration.
Meanwhile people faced problems due to the lock out of the office of CMO. The staff members of the CMO office were also denied entry by the agitated Asha workers. The lock of the entrance was finally removed at about 2 pm. Later the CMO of Dehradun, Dr Y S Thapliyal held talks with the Asha workers. He said that due to fund constraints the department has decided to give the encouragement amount in four installments. The CMO clarified that there is no discrimination like rural or urban workers in distribution of this amount. He said that the online reimbursement is being followed in the district on the instructions of state government. This system is being followed in all states and is bringing transparency in the system, he said.
